The year 2022 is an opportunity for those interested in Canadian Science and Technology to celebrate several anniversaries, including the Centennial of the first publications on insulin (in 1922) by the University of Toronto’s Frederick Banting and Charles Best.
In my project, I’ll be looking at the 30th Anniversary of the 1992 Quebec City International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME) / Congrès international sur l’enseignement des mathématiques (CIEM) and the 50th of the International Geological Congress (IGC)/ Congrès géologique international (CGI), held in Montréal in 1972.
Digging further back, 2022 is the 125th anniversary of when (in 1897) both the British Association for the Advancement of Science (BAAS) met in Toronto and the British Medical Association (BMA) came to Montréal.
Well, that’s my contribution to our forthcoming anniversaries for next year. Do you know of any such occasions to be marked in 2022 in our field of the History of Canadian Mathematics, Science, Technology and Medicine?
