Research Tool – Theses and Dissertations

Outil de recherche – Thèses et mémoires

Forward / Avant-propos

The purpose of this research tool is to provide both scholars and individuals interested in the history of science, technology, or medicine with a substantial overview of the scholarly output of graduate students who have been active in Canadian universities since 2000. Several types of documents were considered, namely 1) doctoral theses, 2) master’s theses, and 3) any other research documents leading to a graduate degree (e.g., essays or major research papers).

The documents are categorized progressively: first by province, then by university, and finally by year of publication.

The theses, dissertations, and research documents listed in this database treat topics related to the history of science, technology, or medicine in Canada as well as in other geographic and cultural contexts, provided they were produced at Canadian universities. All theses and dissertations focusing on a Canadian issue are marked with an asterisk (*) placed before the author’s last name.

Despite the large number of theses and dissertations collected in this document, we do not claim this database is comprehensive. Indeed, we welcome any suggestions for additions or updates to this document.

***
