Book Review Editor, Configurations: Expressions of Interest

Configurations: A Journal of Literature, Science, and Technology, published by the Johns Hopkins University Press for the Society for Literature, Science, and the Arts (SLSA), is looking to appoint a Book Reviews Editor. The publication committee of SLSA (Ron Broglio, Rob Mitchell, Elizabeth Wilson) is seeking expressions of interest in this position.

Configurations was first published in 1993 and is one of the leading science studies journals: it is the only journal devoted to the study of the discourse pertaining to the theories and practices of science, technology, and medicine. Three issues a year are published. Information about the journal, including the Editorial Board, can be found at:

http://www.press.jhu.edu/journals/configurations/ Back issues of the journal can be accessed through Project Muse.

In recent years books by the following authors have been reviewed in the journal: Robert Markley, Lisa Zunshine, Charlotte Sleigh, Ira Livingston, The Animal Studies Group, Wendy Wheeler, Anke Te Heesen, Ernst Mayr, Graham Burnett, Katherine Hayles, Michael E. Hobart and Zachary S. Schiff.

The term of the editorship will be 3 years, in the first instance (with a possibility of renewal). The committee is also happy to accept proposals from pairs of scholars who would like to share the duties.

Please send your expression of interest to the SLSA Publication Committee (rbroglio@charter.net <https://mail.ttu.edu/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx> ; rmitch@duke.edu <https://mail.ttu.edu/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx> ; e.a.wilson@emory.edu <https://mail.ttu.edu/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx> ) by June 31, 2010. The expression of interest should be no longer than two pages, including a short CV, a description of your editorial experience, and a short statement (200 words) of your interest in/ambitions for the position. If two people are applying jointly, please explain how the duties will be shared (e.g., one editor might take responsibility primarily for books on technology & media).

The publication committee will review all applications and forward a shortlist of three names to the SLSA executive. Applicants will be notified by September 1, 2010.
