Happy New Year. The new year marks new beginnings and I am pleased to provide advance notice of important initiatives of our Association this year.
1) Scientia Canadensis
An official announcement will be circulated soon, but I wish to advise you now that the CSHTA / AHSTC executive has approved the following new editorial team for Scientia Canadensis, beginning with the 2011 volume:
- Editor-in-Chief: James Hull, University of British Columbia
- Associate Editor & French Language Book Review Editor: Julien Prud’homme, Université du Québec à Montréal
- English Language Book Review Editor: Jeremy Mouat, University of Alberta
- Managing Director: Stéphane Castonguay, Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières.
While Stéphane Castonguay is stepping out of the role of Editor-in-Chief, which he has fulfilled very well for several years, he is not leaving the editorial team. Stéphane will handle the production of the print and digital versions of the journal.
2) Communications Coordinator
Dorotea Gucciardo, University of Western Ontario, has agreed to take on the position of Communications Coordinator to replace James Hull.
James has kept members informed on a variety of relevant matters over the past year, and we now look forward to receiving notices circulated by Dorotea. Scott Campbell, Web master, has been archiving all of the notices and in the next few months we will see a revision to the Association’s website where the notices can be viewed.
3) Next Biennial Conference
We will return to the Donald Gordon Centre at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario for the Association’s next biennial conference, which will occur this year on 18-20 November 2011. Mark your calendar now and watch for the Call for Papers and other notices about the conference in the near future.
Best wishes for 2011.
Bertrum MacDonald President, CSHTA / président AHSTC
